PS3 Locking Up?

So I have read around that net on a few other forums, that there are a lot of people experiencing problems with their PS3 locking up right after it boots up.

Here is one reason why this could be happening…

So you all know that there is a laser that is used to read the DVD/BD/CD or whatever right. Well PS3’s have an autostart function when the unit is turned on to allow for any game/movie/cd(music) to play automatically at startup.

The way this works is, the red laser stays on all the time if this function is turned on so that when the unit is powered on, the disc will auto-start. Well guess what happens…. The lens will burn up, causing a malfunctioning PS3 (lock up). Other problems reported are, the discs can’t be read at all.

If this happens to you, the only 2 solutions are… Buy a new PS3 or call Sony and pay them $150 for them to fix the lens. This is not covered by the warranty to my knowledge. So, get it fixed and then go into settings when you get it back and turn the auto-start function off.

Announcement: TheYoungGuy Forum

Are forums a dying breed? I don’t know, if so, I clearly have not received that memo. I have run many forums in the last few years and for one reason or another, I have either shut the site down or decided to give it away to others. But once again, I am lured back into the forum game. Why? Well I run multiple blogs, spanning multiple topics. Most of which all come back to PC related activities. So I decided, why not run a forum that bases its content around my blog topics.
