Guitar Hero: Metallica

Well its official. Guitar Hero: Metallica has now officially been announced. Its set to hit stores in early 2009. Personally I can’t wait.

They are taking this game to a different level. It will not follow the same path as GH: Aerosmith, where the band talks about the history of… If you want that, you can watch the Behind the Music of Metallica on YouTube. In this game you will be playing as an up-and-coming band trying to earn a spot on the road with Metallica. Much like the GH: Aerosmith, you will play opening set songs from other bands and end each set as Metallica.

Neversoft has based this game off the Guitar Hero: World Tour engine and kept all of the same new features like, the guitar slider, the music studio, and open bass notes. But with this being Metallica, they needed to add a little more flavor so they felt it was necessary to throw in Expert Plus mode which is a new difficulty level on drums if you have a splitter for two bass pedals. There are other cool features like, Drum Fill Mode, DVD Style Content, and in the GHTunes Studio you will have sounds that were sampled directly from James Hetfields ESP Truckster guitar and Tom Araya’s ESP Bass.

In an interview with Game Informer Magazine, Lars talked about other bands that he was excited about including in the game. Most notably, Slayer. He mention how difficult it was to finally get them into the game because of the strictness of Microsoft and how they monitor certain lyrical content. One band that he mentioned wouldn’t be in the game, unfortunately, was Iron Maiden. That is truly unfortunate.

Some other bands that will be in the game:

  1. Alice in Chains
  2. Bob Seger
  3. Judas Priest
  4. Kyuss
  5. Lynyrd Skynrd
  6. Mastodon
  7. Michael Schenker Group
  8. Queen
  9. Foo Fighters
  10. The Sword
  11. AND MORE!!!

Guitar Hero and Ozzy

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Guitar Hero has become huge in the console genres. First Aerosmith graced the cover a entire game and now Ozzy is going to be apart of the next version, Guitar Hero: World Tour. Ozzy is one of the largest influences on hard rock and heavy metal and having him lend his talents to Guitar Hero is a huge step in the series. What’s next? Check out the video from Gametrailers.com!!!

In other news, Metallica’s drummer Lars Ulrich joked in a recent interview about the possibility of a Guitar Hero: Metallica. What would that be like?

Guitar Hero:World Tour Vs. Rock Band 2

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Ok so Im not here to compare games. Personally I think they are both going to rock. The one thing I really do hope for is some way to use the same instruments for both games, bc shelling out that much cash on top of what I already have (5 guitars, 1 drum kit) is outrageous. What I want to do is compare the track lists of each game. Which game has the better track listing?

Guitar Hero - World Tour

  1. ‘Dope Nose’ - Weezer
  2. ‘The Middle’ - Jimmy Eat World
  3. ‘Today’ - Smashing Pumpkins
  4. ‘Roland’ - Interpol
  5. ‘Santeria’ - Sublime
  6. ‘Mr Brightside’ - The Killers
  7. ‘Take It On The Run’ - REO Speedwagon
  8. ‘Hold The Line’ - Toto
  9. ‘Rebel Yell’ - Billy Idol
  10. ‘Heartbreaker’ - Pat Benatar
  11. ‘All Around Me’ - Flyleaf
  12. ‘Misery Business’ - Paramore
  13. ‘Stinkfist’ - Tool
  14. ‘Lateralus’ - Tool
  15. ‘Schism’ - Tool
  16. (more…)
